On Tuesday, June 21, Martin C. Barell’s Classroom 1 (and a buddy!), graduated from their 12-week class at Farmingdale Gymnastics Academy.
They demonstrated all their exercises for family and friends – balance beam, tumbling, obstacle course, zipline, and trapeze.
There were dazzling smiles everywhere as the boys flew, swung, and fell into the foam pit.
Friendships were made…
Everyone grouped around to be congratulated for their efforts and progress.
Each gymnast received an award for their special strength:
Best Trampoline
Best Flyer
Best Somersault
Best Trapeze
Best Balance Beam
And Honorary Team Member J. received the award for Best Buddy!
We’d like to thank Farmingdale Gymnastics Academy and especially coaches Serena and Lisa for their teaching skills and wonderful ways with our students.
Things were really warming up for Classroom 2 back in December when they participated in the Winter Olympics, designed by some of NSSA’s visiting physical and occupational therapists.
It takes a village…
Teaching is dirty work…
Our Olympians are humble and unfazed by their victories! All in a day’s successes at NSSA.
Physical and occupational therapists Jeannie, Amy, and Kate organized a Winter Olympics event
for Classrooms 2 and 4 last week. Students participated in Dolly Races, Hurdle-and-Toss Relays, arts and crafts, and the ever popular Shaving Cream Skating.
PART I – CLASSROOM 4
GO!!!
Intense concentration against a backdrop of mayhem…he shoots, he scores!
Teachers model good techniques for the students
Showing good sportsmanship by cheering classmates on
A little quiet time with some more artistic endeavors…and then…
Shaving Cream Skating! Things started out a little cautiously
with small steps and curiosity…and ended up with Big Smiles!
And everyone was a winner.
Stay tuned for Part II – Classroom 2.
