This August, teachers Shonda Simmons and Marissa Rocco led Classroom 5 in a painting project.
Students and clients were engrossed in their artwork as Shonda and Marissa led them step-by-step, verbally and through demonstration.
And proud smiles shone all around as artists displayed their completed artwork.
Artwork by two of our own artists, NSSA client Brian M, and past consultation student Andrew D, is currently on display at the “Perspective” art exhibition and fundraiser at the Art League of Long Island, presented by the Kiwanis Divisions of Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Andrew has several photographs in the exhibit and Brian has examples of his original artwork.

The exhibit celebrates the work of local young artists with Autism.
This week Brian was interviewed at the gallery for a Verizon/Fios news segment called “Heroes on Our Island,” which will air July 15 at 8pm. He spoke eloquently and passionately about his art – both what inspires him and where he hopes his art will take him. He even started a new project while being filmed – we can’t wait to see this one hanging on the walls of NSSA soon!
The “Perspective” exhibit will be on display until Sunday, June 8. There will be a reception on June 8 from 3-5pm with refreshments and raffles, and a suggested donation of $10. Thanks to the Kiwanis, NSSA is one of the benefiting organizations.
