Everyone looks forward to Halloween at NSSA. Students, clients and staff have fun dressing in costume for the day’s activities.
The Halloween party is a big success with games, activities and treats. Adult clients do a great job running the different stations. And this year some of the younger classrooms went trick-or-treating in the administrative offices.
Students kept busy with games and activities.
And as always, everyone enjoyed the Costume Contest contestants’ efforts.
When black cats prowl and pumpkins gleam, at NSSA it’s Halloween!
The annual Halloween party was a smashing success…
Students, clients and staff dressed in costume and enjoyed games, crafts and the fun holiday atmosphere.
Hope everyone had as much fun as we did on Halloween!
Halloween is the best day of the year here at NSSA – darling kids dressed in costumes, families joining them for the party in the gym, adult clients manning activity tables for the younger students…CANDY!!!!
This year was no exception. Join us virtually 🙂
After 23 years, Adventureland is saying goodbye to their Hurricane roller coaster. They held a contest called Last Ride for a Cause in which the general public could place a vote by making a donation to one of two local charities – and NSSA was one of them. This donation automatically entered donors to win a seat on the actual last ride of the beloved roller coaster and the top 6 donors per charity were guaranteed a seat on the ride.
NSSA got the most donations and was declared the winner so some of our students, staff and families were there to represent on October 13 at Adventureland, the day of the very last run ever of the Hurricane roller coaster.
Kids and adults waited excitedly to board the coaster…
They board the ride and begin the first ascent….
WHEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
At the end, riders were presented with framed NSSA/Adventureland commemorative prints as a souvenir of their ride.
And NSSA got a generous donation from donors who entered the contest.
Thank you donors, and thank you Adventureland for letting NSSA be part of of your Last Ride for a Cause contest.
QUESTION: What is cuter than a bunch of Martin C Barell students dressed up as their favorite characters??
ANSWER: NOTHING!!!
Our annual Halloween Party was on October 31, and students, clients, and staff showed up dressed as favorite characters, leopards, and hamburgers, oh my! The older students manned activity tables helping the younger kids play matching games, make holiday shakers, and stick their hands into gross stuff participate in the sensory station. Everyone had a good time – who doesn’t love a party?!?
The autumn holiday season swung into NSSA with Classroom 5 visiting Schmitt’s Farm in Melville to pick pumpkins and learn fun farm facts.
Did you know that a single cornstalk only grows two ears of corn? Me neither! But some of our students did!
