Each December The NSSA Parent Association hosts a holiday party complete with pizza, dessert and live music.
Teachers and direct support professionals enjoy the festive atmosphere while students and clients enjoy lunch and dancing.
Some of the adult clients have been practicing for weeks to put on a Holiday Singalong, led by teacher assistant Shelley.
Teachers got in the act, too.
And everyone else came to watch and sing along!
As if that wasn’t enough, on Friday, SANTA surprised the boys in Classroom 1 by showing up with gifts for everyone in the room!
It was quite the way to end 2017…and now classrooms are empty and quiet waiting to be filled again after New Year’s with happy excited voices and activity.
Here’s a little video for you…have a Happy New Year.
Smithtown High School East once again hosted a Winter Dance for NSSA students and clients who were over 14 years old.
The cafeteria was decorated with a winter theme, refreshments were served by Smithtown High School students, DJ Matt Figuccio kept the dance floor jumping…and there were smiles everywhere.
Thank you to Smithtown High School East with providing our students and clients with another evening of fun and friends!
2016 ended at NSSA with a flurry of holiday activity.
From the end-of-year luncheon hosted by the Parent Association, complete with pizza, live music by Fish and dancing for staff, students and clients…
To a holiday craft led by Tori Ardito…
Thank you to Tori for leading the students in this fun craft project!
And…there was even a surprise visitor…
Thanks for stopping by, Santa!!!
It was a busy but fun and festive end to the year…and we look forward to more good times in the year ahead!
When black cats prowl and pumpkins gleam, at NSSA it’s Halloween!
The annual Halloween party was a smashing success…
Students, clients and staff dressed in costume and enjoyed games, crafts and the fun holiday atmosphere.
Hope everyone had as much fun as we did on Halloween!
Every December NSSA hosts Family Fun Night – an opportunity for families and staff to socialize, share a meal, and enjoy watching students, clients and siblings do craft projects and play in the classrooms.
Any craft that involves frosting – always a favorite.
There’s some serious artwork going on here…by clients, siblings and staff kids alike.
So fun when staff bring their young children in – their eyes light up at a classroom filled with toys!
There’s time for jumping…and relaxing.
And it’s a perfect time to welcome new members into the NSSA family!
Happy Holidays and see you next year!
The NSSA Parent Association elves showed up on Friday with pizza, staff gifts, and a wonderful guitar player to serenade us during a generous holiday luncheon.
Teachers and students had some recreation time…
There was dancing and playing….
Some quiet moments…
And general good cheer.
Thank you so much to the NSSA Parent Association for their generosity.
Happy Holidays, everyone!
Smithtown High School East’s cafeteria was hopping last week at NSSA’s 5th Annual Holiday Dance.
Barell and NSSA students and adult clients over the age of 13 were invited to join Smithtown high school students for a rocking good time in a club-like atmosphere complete with disco lights and DJ Matt Figuccio.
New friends were made….
Longtime friends were reunited…
And while for some it’s all about that bass….
For others it’s about bustin’ their moves on the dance floor!
In all, everyone had a great time. Thank you to Smithtown High School East for once again hosting the event at their school, and to Stacey Agosta and NSSA staff for volunteering to make it a special night for the kids.
Each fall we invite families, siblings and staff to Family Fun Night – an evening of potluck dinner and crafts.
We get to spend time with old friends…and the latest additions to the NSSA family!
Students proudly sign their artwork.
Staff bring their kids to join in the fun.
Parents work on projects with their kids.
The favorite craft by far was making candy Christmas trees.
So much frosting, so little time….
Thanks for sharing some family fun with us!
Halloween is the best day of the year here at NSSA – darling kids dressed in costumes, families joining them for the party in the gym, adult clients manning activity tables for the younger students…CANDY!!!!
This year was no exception. Join us virtually 🙂
Love was in the air today at NSSA, with the passing out of chocolates with little dog pictures (“Pugs’n’Kisses,” come on!!!), cake-pops, handmade cards, and chocolate-covered pretzels!
These kids – they’re *all* Our Valentines!!!
