NSSA’s 18th Annual Golf Classic was held July 25, 2016 at Sands Point Golf Club. The day was hot but the event was extremely well-attended thanks to the efforts of Event Chair and parent Joe Longo (photo right) and NSSA Board member and parent, Joe Winters (photo left).
The day started bright and early with breakfast and the first round of golfers.

Amazing volunteers manned the money booth and games of chance.

Wednesday, June 1, 2016 was a perfect day for Commack High School’s 5th Annual Student/Teacher Doubles Tournament fundraiser “Tennis for Autism” to raise awareness of autism and NSSA.
Proceeds from the fundraiser were generously donated to NSSA.
Shane Helfner, President of the Suffolk County Tennis Coach’s Association, spearheads this event each year – we’re so fortunate to have such good friends and supporters in the community.
Family and friends, staff and students came out to support the event and players. There was such a genuine feeling of camaraderie among the tennis team and faculty players.
Raffle prizes were announced near the end of the event and there were many happy winners.
Everyone who participated received a medal and the top four places in the tournament received trophies. But everyone involved in the event – from students and faculty, to Shane and parents – are winners as far as we’re concerned.
Thank you Commack HS Boys Varsity Tennis Team, Commack High School faculty, and Shane Helfner for helping to raise awareness of autism and Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism.
May 14, 2016 was a beautiful day for a run along the waterfront at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington, NY. Over 200 runners and walkers participated in the 10th Annual Jack’s Run for Autism, a 5k fundraiser put on each spring by Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism.
Volunteers were on hand bright and early, balloon filling, arrow laying, table cleaning, muffin cutting, tee shirt dispensing – all the things that need to happen before a successful run. We couldn’t do it without their tireless help.
Thanks to NSSA Board Members pitching in to help.

This past Saturday, April 16, 2016, NSSA’s 24th Annual Dinner for Our Children was well-attended by people who give. People who give of themselves, people who give their time, energy and skills, people who give donations of money and prizes. We thank them all.
We thank Paul and Joann Raguso for once again chairing the event.
We thank volunteers and staff for making the event run smoothly and seeing to it that people had an enjoyable evening.
Thank you to guests who came and made the event into a really fun party!
Thank you to donors and bidders and winners of our wonderful live auctions…
Thank you to those who kept the casino hopping….
…and the dance floor lively!
We’re thankful for families and students we’ve come to know and love…and we congratulate them as they graduate from The Martin C. Barell school program into NSSA’s Adult Services program.
And to everyone who played a part in making NSSA’s 24th Annual Dinner for Our Children a success, we thank you.
NSSA’s 17th Annual Wine Tasting & Auction was held on November 7, 2015 at the Garden City Country Club. The elegant clubhouse dining room was transformed into an extravagant tasting station with wines from all around the world generously donated by Empire Merchants.
Guests sampled fine wines, socialized with friends and played games of chance to win exciting prizes. Passed hors-d’oeuvres and a plentiful buffet kept people satisfied throughout the evening.
It’s so great to see so many new people attending our events and becoming friends and supporters of NSSA and the work we do.
Our great appreciation and thanks, as always, to our wonderful sponsors, donors, volunteers and guests, for making the event such a success!
Hope to see you again next year! Cheers!
While the weather forecasts predicted thunderstorms all day, NSSA’s 17th Annual Golf Classic held at Sands Point Golf Club on July 27th was graced with sunny blue skies and not a drop of rain.
The event was so popular this year that we added a second start time and had *two* rounds of golf to accommodate our overflow of golfers. Thank you to people like Joe Longo, Joe Winters, Gerry Weldon and others who promoted the event and got us more registrations than ever before.
In addition to 18 holes of golf, attendees could take their chances at the Putting Contest, and Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive Challenges. We congratulate Putting Contest Winner Bob Dempsey, Closest to the Pin Challenge Winners Tom Rooney in the morning and Joe Perry in the afternoon, and Longest Drive Challenge Winners Mike Nelson and Robert Antretta (am and pm rounds, respectively), and the day’s overall winning foursome from Huatai-USA, LLC, Stuart Polsky, Scott Polsky, Bob Simpson and Joe Matta.
Sands Point Golf Club outdid themselves with wonderful meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Our volunteers were as amazing as ever, handling registration smoothly, keeping the foursomes moving along and helping guests win a generous array of prizes.
We thank everyone for their participation and support in helping to make the event such a success.
In spite of the cool foggy morning on May 9, Jack’s 5K Run for Autism was a bright spot in the day.
Runners, volunteers, teachers, families, and staff all showed up to help make the event a success.
A first-timer was the overall winner, congratulations!
We had lots of helpers.
It was great to see so many youngsters doing the run!
And people found some time to catch up with friends, new and old.
Thanks to everyone who showed up to run and volunteer, and to the many people who made donations online at https://www.firstgiving.com/Page/3042873/Donation – and it’s not too late to help, donations can be made at FirstGiving through August 2015.
