GRANT AND DONATION ANNOUNCEMENTS:

To supplement the funds raised through NSSA’s special events, the Development Office works to secure funding from foundations, corporations, businesses, and government offices on an on-going basis.

The Development Office is proud to announce the receipt of the following grants and donations:

  • Holes for Hope donated $15,000 to NSSA’s Adult Services Program from proceeds of its golf outing

  • Victoria Killigrew (cousin of a Barell student) donated $75 from lemonade stand proceeds

July 2016

  • NSSA parent Jennifer Prince organized a fundraiser at Da Nicola Restaurant, Hewlett that raised $2,025 for NSSA

June 2016

  • Commack High School Boys Varsity Tennis raised $2,162 for NSSA through their annual Student/teacher Mixed Doubles Tournament
  • Barell parent Colleen Cahill and friends donated $1,200 to NSSA from proceeds of a Bunco tournament
  • Chili’s, East Northport donated $240 to NSSA from a dinner fundraiser
  • Barnes & Noble, East Northport made a donation of $104 to NSSA from a fundraiser

  • Stella’s II Pizzeria hosted an April Autism Fundraiser that raised $1,210 for NSSA
  • Teachers Federal Credit Union donated $5,800 from proceeds of the sale of NSSA Autism Awareness ribbon signs
  • The Leo Club of West Babylon UFSD gave NSSA $1,431 from the proceeds of it’s

  • Tenth grader Carley Schor presented NSSA with another 6 iPad minis, purchased through her sneaker art business, Carley’s Kicks for Cure.
  • Lily Walford and her friends donated $870 to NSSA in lieu of presents for her 10th birthday
  • Kiwanis Club of Huntington, Children’s Foundation, Inc. donated $800 from proceeds of its 2nd Annual Exhibition of works by artists on the autism spectrum

VISITORS DAY

The next Visitor’s Day will be on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 9:30am. Please call (631) 462-0386 to register.

Since its inception the Martin C. Barell School has conducted Visitors’ Days one day each month. This has afforded family members, teachers, and other interested professionals an opportunity to learn more about the school and its philosophy. On each visit an overview of the agency, its programs, and the Martin C. Barell School is given. The organization of classrooms, ABA model, as well as the model used for speech consultation are discussed in detail. Visitors are given an explanation of the individualized motivational and reinforcement systems as well as the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Each visit includes a tour of The Martin C. Barell School. At the end of the tour the main points of the visit are reviewed and a question and answer forum is provided. Visitors Days are scheduled on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 9:30 am. To attend please call the NSSA office at 631-462-0386.
