How You Can Help

The cost of the high quality education, outreach and support services NSSA provides to its students and families exceeds the level of funding provided by the New York State Education Department and the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. There are many ways in which you can show your support NSSA and its programs. The following are offered for your consideration:

ü     Verizon long distance will dedicate 5% of your long distance landline bill to the school of your choice. NSSA’s Martin C. Barell School is already registered with Verizon.  To enroll call 1-877-xcredit or go to www.verizonld.com/extracredit

ü     Target stores offer a Visa card with benefits for the school of your choice.  1% of your purchases at Target and one half percent of purchases made elsewhere can be donated to the Martin C. Barell School, if you so designate, when you apply for a Visa card at a Target store near you.

ü     Waldbaum’s , Stop and Shop, and Pathmark shopping certificates in $10 and $25 denominations are available through the NSSA office.  There is no extra cost to you and these certificates can be used at any Waldbaum’s, Stop and Shop, and Pathmark Supermarket.  NSSA will receive 5% of the amount of the gift certificates you purchase.  For further information call the NSSA office at 516-579-5087.

ü     General Mills has a program called Box Tops for Education. Each box top you clip from one of their products can be redeemed for 5 cents.  Mail the box tops from the products you use every day to NSSA, 11 Laurel Lane, Levittown, NY 11756.

ü     1800flowers.com - when making a purchase through 1800flowers.com you will automatically receive a 10% discount on your purchase and 4% of your purchase will be donated to NSSA simply by using our assigned code – NSSA.  The NSSA promotion and code can be used when placing an order via website (www.1800flowers.com), telephone (1800flowers) or at any local 1800flowers store.  Simply give the promotional code “NSSA” when placing your order.  Please keep this program in mind when you are ordering flowers and gifts for your personal and business needs.

ü     If your employer has a gift-matching program, please consider NSSA as a recipient.  Gift matching effectively doubles the size of the contribution you make to us. Please notify NSSA if you have access to a gift matching program.

ü     If you wish to commemorate an occasion or a loved one through a donation to NSSA, our office will send a memorial, tribute, or donation acknowledgement. Contact the NSSA office at 516-579-5087.

ü     When making estate plans, consider designating NSSA as a beneficiary.
