Applied behavior analysis is the application of procedures derived from the scientific study of behavior. Applied behavior analysis has proven to be an effective method to meet educational objectives and reduce problem behavior. Behavior analysts observe and record behaviors on an ongoing basis. They provide numerous structured opportunities to teach the learner new skills in isolation before achieving the ultimate goal of generalization in real life environments. Attempts at skill acquisition and behavior reduction are both highly individualized and based upon the data that has been collected.
